Representative Matches

NEBA

The ED welcomed NEBA to Berwick for their annual matches.

The “A” team represented by Iain Sime, Fiona McQuaker, Alan Goodman, Brian Short, Derrick Peden, Malcolm McCardle, Dee Harley & Eric Nolf had a topsy turvey match. Losing the 1st stanza of 12 boards by 50 imps and also the 2nd stanza by 10, they then made a great recovery winning the 3rd by 90 and after the 4th finished overall worthy winners by 45 imps and retained The Newcastle Journal Trophy.

The “B” team had a much quieter afternoon going win, loss, win, loss in each of the 4 stanzas of 12 boards, with the biggest swing being 28 imps. However although leading by 2 imps going into the final quarter finished losing a close match by 11 imps allowing NEBA to retain The Edinburgh Salver. Playing for the “B” team were Anne Perkins, Eileen Carmichael, Veronica Guy, Laura Middleton, Fiona Greenwood, Anna St Clair, Krzystof Nguyen & Tadeusz Janowski.

So the spoils were shared with the ED and NEBA each retaining the trophies they won last year.
